High Improvers Programme

The pilot “Improvers” School Bonus Programme was initiated by PMIU/SED in FY2010/11 as a three-year programme to award incentives to low-performing schools in poorly-performing districts, with the aim of increasing enrolment in schools and improving student learning outcomes.

Three districts namely Attock, MandiBahaud Din, Rahim Yar Khan were selected as pilot districts and 600 schools were chosen on the basis of their lowest performance in Grade Five Examination. The design of the improvers programme offers group-based cash bonuses/incentives to school teachers.
The criteria is based on three indicators given as under

  1. Increase in enrollment
  2. Participation rate in PEC examination
  3. Improvement in mean score (five subjects) of the students in grade five examination

The weightage assigned to these indicators is 25%, 15% and 60% respectively.
