SED Punjab has envisioned overcoming the learning deficiency of children by establishing learning camps during the summer break. The camps will provide an opportunity for students to revisit and consolidate their basic concepts in language and mathematics. Moreover, these camps will focus on improving students’ learning outcomes by providing a supportive learning environment. The key objectives of Learning Camps are to reinforce the foundational Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for students aged 5 to 9, especially those in grades 1 to 3, and to provide them with an opportunity to catch up on missed learning during regular classes. The camps aim to improve the learning outcomes of students in core subjects, including Mathematics, Urdu, and English, and to equip them with skills and knowledge that will help them succeed in higher grades. The camps also aim to promote a culture of learning and improve the attendance and retention of students in public schools and bring OOSC to schools.
For this year, 2051 camps have been set up in 5 districts; Muzaffargarh, D.G.KHAN, Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur. These camps have a total enrollment of 79982 with 21816 OOSC. The camps have been functional since 12th June 2023 and will be running over a period of 40 working days; with classes being held from Monday to Friday from 7 am – 9:30 am. All camps have been provided with resource packs, which include stationery, notebooks, and worksheets for students, and an activity calendar for the teachers to facilitate the teachers during teaching. Baseline and Endline assessments will be conducted in each camp to gauge the impact of these learning camps.
