Free Textbooks Program (FTP)

The Free Textbooks Program is one of the flagship initiatives of the Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme (PESRP), ensuring that every child enrolled in a public school from Katchi to Grade 10 receives textbooks free of cost. Launched in 2004 and later expanded from primary to middle and secondary levels, the program supports equitable learning by removing the financial burden of purchasing books, particularly for low-income families. Textbooks are delivered through 132 tehsil-level warehouses under the supervision of District Education Authorities, covering both general subjects and Quranic education materials. By guaranteeing timely and universal textbook provision, the program helps improve access, retention, and learning continuity across Punjab’s public schools.
